Complex-PTSD, Narcissistic Abuse & Recovery

Complex-PTSD, Narcissistic Abuse & Recovery

6/27/2019

As I watch Josh really start the journey I started last summer, I get anxious for him.

Cutting through years of junk is hard work, it's painful and sometimes feels hopeless.

We got a huge note of validation today though!

We got his records from a neurologist he was seeing back in 2008/2009.

We Both got to see what he's been fighting on paper. We got to see that the in-laws had a visit with his doc without him present (he was not a minor) and got to see the docs remarks and opinions of that visit.

Doctors/professionals that are aware and document clear signs of abuse are the hidden heroes that nobody knows about.

Narcissistic abuse is hard to recover from because it fractures who you are. You don't see the world the same so to hold not only court records but doctors records documenting the clear abuse of parental power gives the survivor a piece of their voice back.

It's unimaginable that a person would be so malicious to their own family, it's something I would have never believed had I not experienced it with him.

Narcissistic abuse is a big cause of Complex-PTSD.

You are not a part of a horrific incident, you are the target of a continued long-term attack.

C-PTSD is not experiencing one trauma, it's being torn down personally piece by piece over a long period of time.

You don't figure out how to get your old life back. It's changing your entire way of life, there is no going back to how you used to be. You have to find a new way of life because the you before is split into irreparable pieces.

Its feeling paranoid to leave your house but paranoid to not go out as well. It makes you question everything; every encounter, every word exchanged and every bit of body language. It's being terrified and angry all the time.

As awful as C-PTSD is, there is hope and a better life. As anxious as I am for Josh, I'm also excited that he will be able to lift this burden and get her off his shoulders once and for all.

If you struggle with C-PTSD or PTSD there is help out there, there is another side that isn't so painful. You can get through this and become stronger than you've ever been.
